• Parental Guidance •
Motion picture rating system that classifies audiovisual content according to its suitability for different audiences, based on criteria established by the relevant regulatory authority in each country. In Etere, users can define custom parental ratings to classify events and prevent the scheduling of unsuitable content within specific time slots of the on-air playlist. • Phase Alternating Line •
Analog color encoding system for broadcast television, primarily used in Europe and other regions. PAL defines the method for encoding color information within the video signal. See Video formats in [1.2.22. Glossary - V]
• Peripheral Component Interconnect. Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) specifies a computer bus for attaching peripheral devices to a computer motherboard. Different types include general-purpose (PCI), PCI Express (PCIe), and PCI eXtended (PCI-X).
• Placeholder. A placeholder is an object or asset created by an NCRS to hold the scheduling space of the story within the rundown. Etere software supports using placeholders or assets not yet linked to any media file to contain a story's key information. Key information can be a clip ID and Code and an eventual tapeless sender intended to deliver the story.
• Playback. A playback reproduces video, sound, or image material from a recording or other source. A playback operator handles the playing of prerecorded media using a media player or other device that reproduces audio or video.
• Playlist. A playlist is the listing of official programs that a station will play during a given day. To know more about playlists, see Schedule.
• Playout. A playout is the transmission of a TV channel. It is the process in which the broadcaster forwards content through a specific channel to an uplink center to be delivered to the audience. With Etere, users can automatically play sequential events from a transmission schedule that are either domestic or imported.
• Price List. A price list is a grid card that reflects audience delivery and demand at different times, resulting in various rates for that program. With Etere, users can use price lists to calculate the value of the broadcast time of the commercial Schedule. A price list is also known as a Rate Card.
• Program. A program is a material scheduled to go on air at a specific time. A program is also known as an Event. To learn more about programs, see Event.
• Programming. Programming is the minute planning of the content of a broadcast channel before its transmission. To know more about programming, see Scheduling.
• Promo (Trailer). A promo is a preliminary advertisement or announcement of a TV program or station. Etere fully supports the use of trailers in the Daily Schedule. There are three different types of trailers that Etere supports: generic trailers, cross-station trailers, and promotions. A promo trailer is also known as a Promotion or Promotional Spot.
• Proxy Video. A proxy video is a form of metadata comprising highly compressed, very low-resolution video with sound that mirrors a high-resolution original master digital recording. Etere supports the manual and automatic creation and browsing of proxy videos for quick video viewing, scripting, and editing.
